Hydrock Contracting provides contaminated land and groundwater remediation services to a number of different sectors.
Sites Hydrock have remediated include landfills, industrial facilities, sensitive military sites, former gas works, chemical works, public open spaces and school playing fields, as well as fuel stations and spills.
Hydrock were chosen to provide site remediation services for a site in Essex, which involved the removal of waste material previously dumped there.
CRJ received an enquiry to supply equipment to help with this project. The material to be processed was a mixture of finer aggregates mixed with skip derived trommel fines and some commercial and industrial (C&I) waste.
Hydrock’s objectives were to clear the site and ensure waste removed could either be processed further, or minimised as much as possible before sending to landfill in the most cost efficient and sustainable manner.
CRJ supplied a Doppstadt SM518 Trommel Screen with a 15mm drum to produce a material that was suitable to landfill with significantly reduced landfill charges.
After using the trommel for a short period, Hydrock were able to improve the process and increase their requirements for a further machine.
After discussing the virtues of both a vibrating deck screen or a trommel screen, Hydrock decided to hire a further Doppstadt SM518 Trommel Screen as there was less risk of the material blocking the holes in the screening area. Drum size for this machine was 70mm.
The next challenge was to clean up the 15mm to 70mm size fraction material which contained plastic making it unacceptable for landfill cover.
For this application Hydrock used our new Ecohogo Windshifter. This new machine to CRJ’s hire fleet, cleaned up the material by removing the lighter density pl
The Doppstadt SM518 trommel is a reliable and robust drum screener, suitable for a range of applications including Hydrock Contracting's aggregate and trommel fines material.
