CRJ Services currently offers apprenticeships in Heavy Plant Mechanics and in Supply Chain Operations, and we have five apprentices progressing through their training.
We caught up with our current apprentices to see how they are getting on and see what it is like to be doing an apprenticeship at CRJ Services....
Why did you choose CRJ Services as the place to do your apprenticeship?
CRJ Services offers multi-discipline skills for the modern engineering industry, from giving experience in mechanical and electrical all the way to doing PLCs (programmable logic controllers) and welding. CRJ Services has the modern technology for today’s most demanding jobs in the engineering sector.
What is it like working at CRJ Services?
CRJ Services has a very experienced workforce, the engineers have previous experience in teaching apprentices, which makes a huge difference. CRJ Services knows how to give their apprentices knowledge, moral support, and they offer the best opportunities.
What are your ambitions after completing your apprenticeship?
My ambition after completing the apprenticeship is to continue to provide the best of my knowledge and experience to CRJ Services. With the wealth of experience taken from the experienced engineers at CRJ Services. I’ll continue to work for the company and see myself progress to either workshop foreman or machine inspector.
Why did you choose CRJ Services as the place to do your apprenticeship?
I chose CRJ to do my apprenticeship, as the job advert showed that CRJ is a company that wants to progress and invest in its apprentices in the long term. A lot of places may take you on and then not really show interest in your progression. CRJ have already put me through a lot of training and has shown an interest in my personal development.
What is it like working at CRJ Services?
Working at CRJ is very rewarding. You put in the graft, and they will put it back into you. The people are top, and there is always help at hand. All the management is more than happy to help with college work, and if you want to try a new part of the job, your colleagues are always happy to pass on knowledge.
What are your ambitions after completing your apprenticeship?
After my apprenticeship, I plan on staying in the workshop with my colleagues for a few years and maybe going mobile after that. I've found with work that it's the people that make the job.
Why did you choose CRJ Services as the place to do your apprenticeship?
I chose to do my apprenticeship place as it was recommended to me as a good place to start my working life journey while also getting a qualification. After I had been and had a look around, I knew it was a great place for me to be at.
What is it like working at CRJ Services?
I think it is a well-organised and enjoyable place to work. I appreciate the way in which things are handled and how the company ensure the well-being of all employees and makes you feel appreciated within the business.
What are your ambitions after completing your apprenticeship?
After my apprenticeship is completed, I hope to continue working here and want to gain as much knowledge as I can about the machines and industry I am working in so that it opens other doors up for departments within the business.
What is it like to be an apprentice at CRJ Services?
I enjoy training at CRJ, there a lot of mechanical fitters with vast knowledge to learn from and willing to teach you, plus its a friendly working environment.
Why did you choose the apprenticeship route?
I chose the apprenticeship route to gain the correct qualifications along the way.
What are your hopes for the future?
I would eventually, once qualified, like to become a mobile fitter.”
What is it like to be an apprentice at CRJ Services?
It has taught me various new skills that can help me in the future. It has helped me with my confidence, and it is a good working atmosphere.
Why did you choose the apprenticeship route?
I didn’t like college, so I decided to get a summer job. It has evolved into an apprenticeship in being a warehouse assistant and allows me to earn while I train.
What are your hopes for the future?
“I’m unsure of my future aspirations. I have got a couple of things in mind but not set on a certain path yet.”
