CRJ Takes On Tough Mudder 2025 for Dementia UK

On Saturday 26th July, 22 members of the CRJ team laced up their trainers, tightened their headbands and took on one of the toughest physical challenges we’ve ever faced — Tough Mudder Yorkshire 2025.

Over 15km and 20+ obstacles, we climbed, crawled, jumped, slid and dragged ourselves (and each other) through mud, water and everything in between — all in support of Dementia UK.

And we’re proud to say… we did it.

More Than Just a Mud Run

Tough Mudder isn’t a race. It’s about teamwork, resilience and pushing yourself further than you thought possible.

From the first muddy incline to the final obstacle, it was a proper team effort. No one was left behind. Every wall climbed, every ice bath endured and every electric shock obstacle survived was done together.

That spirit reflects exactly what CRJ is about — supporting each other, stepping up when it matters and finishing what we start.

Supporting Dementia UK

This challenge wasn’t just about pushing ourselves physically. It was about raising money and awareness for a cause that affects so many families across the UK.

Dementia UK provides specialist Admiral Nurses who support families facing the incredibly difficult journey of dementia. Their work makes a real difference to people when they need it most.

Thanks to the generosity of our customers, suppliers, friends and families, we were able to raise an incredible amount in support of the charity. The messages, donations and encouragement meant the world to the team — especially during those tougher miles.

A Huge Team Effort

While 22 of us took on the course, this was bigger than just the runners. From those who helped organise the fundraising, to the team members who came to support on the day, to everyone who shared and donated — this was a full CRJ effort.

It was tough. It was muddy. It was exhausting.

But it was also one of the most rewarding things we’ve done and a great team building exercise for our employees.

What’s Next?

At CRJ, we’re proud of the work we do every day in the waste and recycling sector – but we’re equally proud of the community and culture we’re building.

Tough Mudder 2025 won’t be the last challenge we take on together.

For now though… we’re just about ready to wash the mud off.
