Supporting East Cheshire Hospice’s Christmas Tree Collection

East Cheshire Hospice, in partnership with Ansa Environmental Waste Services Ltd run an initiative each year to collect and recycle local resident’s Christmas trees. Users of the service are asked to make a donation to the Hospice.

CRJ Services was approached to provide a shredder that could shred the Christmas trees, turning them into a compostable product, that will be used across the parks, gardens and Cheshire farmland.

We take every opportunity to support our local community and were more than happy to provide the Doppstadt AK565 high-speed shredder with an operator free-of-charge in order to help this great cause.

A large volunteering team of over 300 people were out in force both collecting the trees from the residents, and assisting the recycling process at West Park, Macclesfield. There were volunteer drivers, navigators, crew, supporters, chefs, coffee makers and biscuit bakers along with customer care, finance and mulching teams. Meals were on the hoof, and a hearty lunch was provided in our self-styled ‘Mulchers Arms’!

In its 23-year history, the initiative has raised over £1.5m for East Cheshire Hospice, who rely on donations from the community to continue their excellent work supporting adults facing life limiting illnesses.
