Why More Operators Are Choosing Conveyor Belt Outfeed on JENZ Chippers

When people think of a high-performance wood chipper, they often picture a traditional hydraulic discharge chute firing material directly into a trailer. While this setup remains the most common option across the industry, JENZ also offers selected machines with a conveyor belt outfeed system, giving operators another solution depending on the application, site layout and material being processed.

One machine we’ve recently seen fitted with this setup is the JENZ HEM 583, where the standard hydraulic blower has been replaced with a conveyor discharge arrangement. It’s a different approach to handling woodchip, but for certain operations it can bring major advantages.

Material type can also play a major role in choosing a conveyor outfeed system. Wetter or heavier material containing soil, fines or moisture can sometimes be more challenging to discharge efficiently through a traditional blower chute. By using a conveyor belt system instead, material is physically transferred away from the machine, helping reduce the risk of blockages and allowing operators to maintain a more consistent output when processing difficult feedstock.

Better Visibility and Simpler Operation

Depending on the setup, some operators also prefer the visibility a conveyor system offers. Because material flow is more visible, it can be easier to monitor output quality and identify blockages or contamination quickly.
