Kiverco Picking Station and HAAS TYRON 2500 Pre-Shredder

I would recommend both the HAAS TYRON pre-shredder, the Kiverco Picking Station and CRJ Services Ltd as a supplier of equipment.

Timberpak Ltd Enhances Wood Recycling with Kiverco Picking Station and HAAS TYRON 2500 Pre-Shredder

Timberpak Ltd is a major UK wood recycling company, a subsidiary of EGGER (UK) Limited and part of the EGGER Group, a global leader in wood-based materials manufacturing. Timberpak operate four recycling sites across the UK: Washington, Leeds, Glasgow, and St. Albans.

The EGGER Group runs a closed-loop production cycle in the UK, integrating forestry, sawmilling, and wood-based manufacturing. Timberpak plays a critical role in this cycle, ensuring that waste wood is recycled back into EGGER products, and only when wood can no longer be reused is it converted into energy at EGGER’s biomass power plants.

At Timberpak Scotland, incoming wood is first graded. Lower-grade material is fed onto a primary picking line, where MDF and general waste are removed. The remaining material is shredded to a consistent particle size, with metals removed via an over-band magnet. The recycled material is then further processed by a secondary picking line and sent to EGGER (UK) Limited for manufacturing.

Kiverco Picking Station

CRJ Services has a long-standing relationship with Timberpak Scotland, having supplied their first picking station in 2016. When Timberpak required an additional station to replace an older mobile unit, they again turned to CRJ Services.

The Scottish site required a robust 2-bay double-sided picking station (4-bays total) capable of handling high throughput in an outdoor environment. Operator safety and comfort were paramount, as was the ability to process larger volumes of waste wood compared to traditional methods.

CRJ recommended a static double-sided 2-bay Kiverco picking station, which met and exceeded Timberpak’s operational and safety requirements. The station now enables Timberpak staff to efficiently process high volumes of material while remaining safe and comfortable.

HAAS TYRON 2500 Pre-Shredder

Timberpak had been struggling with consistent particle sizing using their previous single-shaft shredder, which affected downstream processes at the picking stations. They needed a shredder that could reliably produce a uniform particle size, while minimising downtime and maintenance.

CRJ Services proposed the HAAS TYRON 2500, a twin-shaft pre-shredder designed for high-performance wood recycling:

  • Independently driven twin shafts allow precise control over output size and reduce fines
  • HAAS cleaning system reverses shafts automatically to prevent wrapping of fibrous material, reducing blockages and downtime
  • Enhanced safety, eliminating the need for operators to enter the shredding chamber
  • Integrated neodymium over-band magnet removes ferrous metals before further processing

The TYRON 2500 ensures consistent, high-quality output that feeds smoothly into Timberpak’s picking stations, improving efficiency and reliability across the Scottish site.

Outcome

With the new Kiverco picking station and HAAS TYRON 2500, Timberpak Scotland has improved operational throughput, worker safety, and consistency of processed material. The integration of these machines supports EGGER’s closed-loop production cycle, helping to maximise the recycling of waste wood into high-quality EGGER products while reducing reliance on energy recovery.
