Congratulations Shiu
Shiu Has Completed Her Heavy Plant Mechanic Apprenticeship at CRJ Services
At CRJ Services, investing in people has always been just as important as investing in machinery. That’s why we’re proud to celebrate a major milestone for one of our own – Shiu Lau has officially completed her Heavy Plant Mechanic Apprenticeship.
Apprenticeships play a vital role at CRJ Services. They allow us to develop skilled engineers internally, pass on industry knowledge, and ensure the high standards our customers expect are maintained long into the future.
The Next Stage For Shiu
As she moves into the next stage of her career with CRJ, we’re excited to see how Shiu continues to grow and contribute to the business. Her achievement is not only a personal success, but also a reflection of the supportive team environment and culture we strive to create.
Congratulations, Shiu – a well-earned achievement, and an exciting future ahead at CRJ Services.

Recognising the Role of Apprenticeship Mentorship
Behind every successful apprenticeship is strong guidance, and at CRJ Services that support has been led by Tony Sheen, CRJ’s apprentice mentor.
Tony believes “It’s crucial for the apprentices to have a mentor, to enhance the learning experience, boost confidence and to support them throughout their apprenticeship.
Completing a Heavy Plant Mechanic Apprenticeship is no small achievement. It requires resilience, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, hands-on industry.
Many apprentices come straight from school, this could be their first job, and for others an apprenticeship could be a pathway to a new career, so having a mentor to support, guide and help navigate unfamiliar challenges is very important. “

Tony’s Role In Shiu’s Development
As an experienced engineer at CRJ, Tony has played a key role in Shiu’s development throughout her apprenticeship. From day-to-day guidance in the workshop to sharing practical knowledge built over years in the industry, Tony has helped bridge the gap between training and real-world application.
Alongside Tony’s mentorship, Dale brought vital day-to-day leadership as Workshop Team Leader, providing structure, oversight, and practical direction within the workshop environment.
Working closely with Shiu, Dale helped refine her engineering skills through real-world problem-solving, reinforcing best practice, efficiency, and safe working standards.
His consistent support ensured Shiu gained confidence in applying her training on live machinery, helping prepare her for the demands within the team.

More Than Just Training
Mentorship at CRJ goes beyond technical instruction. It’s about setting standards, encouraging confidence, and supporting apprentices as they develop both their skills and their mindset. Tony’s hands-on approach and willingness to invest time in developing Shiu has ensured she not only gained the qualifications required, but also the practical understanding needed to work safely and effectively on heavy plant machinery.
“All businesses are run differently, having a mentor helps the apprentice to understand the workplace culture, motivate and encourage the apprentice to complete their training to Qualify at a high standard and then hopefully engage in a meaningful career after their apprenticeship has ended. “

Passing On The Experience
Tony’s role reflects CRJ’s wider commitment to building long-term capability within the business. By passing on experience to the next generation of engineers, mentors like Tony help ensure consistency, quality, and expertise across the team – today and into the future.
Shiu’s achievement is a testament not only to her own hard work, but also to the strength of mentorship and teamwork within CRJ Services.
