By investing in a C&D wash plant, we are now capable of diverting up to 250,000 tons of waste, per year from landfill. This will also reduce strain on our natural aggregates minerals in quarries by re-selling the material into the local construction industry. We decided to close the deal with Rob from CRJ Services, after going to look at a Bruce machine in Scotland. It was clear that this was the machine for us; well built, good throughput and an enthusiastic, knowledgeable team in Bruce who have been first class. Mayer Earthworks Expands Recycling Capability with Bruce WashPod Investment

Mayer Earthworks Ltd, a groundworks specialist based in Staffordshire, has strengthened its material processing operation with the purchase of a Bruce WashPod from CRJ Services Ltd. The investment supports the company’s ongoing focus on efficiency, sustainability, and maximising the value of secondary materials generated through its groundworks activities.

Developed by Bruce Engineering Ltd, the WashPod was designed specifically to meet the needs of aggregate recyclers looking to wash secondary recycled materials where space on site is limited. Its compact footprint and fully integrated design make it particularly well suited to operators requiring a flexible, high-performance washing solution.

Turning By-Products into Saleable Material

At Mayer Earthworks, the WashPod is processing sub-40mm grab-away material, a by-product generated from its groundworks operations. Prior to washing, the raw material is screened using a deck screener, with the sub-40mm fraction fed directly into the WashPod hopper.

Within the WashPod, material passes through a controlled process of scrubbing, trash removal, and rinsing, producing multiple clean and consistent outputs. These include 10mm, 20mm, and 25–40mm aggregate products, alongside a single coarse sand grade — all suitable for resale into the construction market..

By converting what was previously a low-value by-product into certified, saleable aggregates, Mayer Earthworks has enhanced both the efficiency and commercial value of its materials handling operation.
