CRJ Services Supports East Cheshire Hospice Christmas Tree Recycling Initiative

East Cheshire Hospice, in partnership with Ansa Environmental Waste Services Ltd, runs an annual Christmas tree recycling initiative that allows local residents to dispose of their Christmas trees responsibly while raising vital funds for hospice care. Participants are invited to make a donation to the Hospice when using the service, with all proceeds supporting adults facing life-limiting illnesses across the region.

A Record-Breaking Year for Fundraising

The most recent campaign proved to be the most successful to date, raising an incredible £155,000 for East Cheshire Hospice. Over its 22-year history, the initiative has now generated more than £1.5 million, highlighting the ongoing generosity and commitment of the local community.

Providing a Sustainable Recycling Solution

CRJ Services was approached to support the initiative by supplying a shredder capable of processing large volumes of Christmas trees efficiently. The shredded material would then be repurposed as a compostable product for use across local parks, gardens and Cheshire farmland.

In support of the project, CRJ Services provided a Doppstadt AK 565 high-speed shredder, along with an experienced operator, free of charge—helping to ensure the recycling operation ran smoothly while maximising the environmental benefit of the scheme.

Seamless Operation on the Day

The shredding operation formed a key part of the recycling process at West Park in Macclesfield, where a volunteer team of more than 150 people assisted with tree collections from residents and on-site processing.

The shredder didn’t miss a beat and helped the project run smoothly.”
